Diagram Analysis on the Science Collaboration Network Among Universities of Science and Engineering

Abstract: To reveal the current status of scientific cooperation among universities of science and engineering, the cooperation frequency matrix and Salton index matrix were found based on the data of co-authored papers in universities of science and engineering in 2013 from the SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded) database. The investigated universities composed of thirty six top100 ranking universities of science and engineering in China. The cooperation network was visualized by Ucinet and Netdraw. Results showed both the number of papers published and the number of co-authored papers in Tsinghua University was more than other universities of science and engineering; regional proximity was the main factors to affect cooperative strength; these universities of science and engineering had different interactive modes and role functions because each of them belonged to a different block model and occupied a different position.
