Research Status and Trends of Farmers’ Information Needs Based on Bibliometrics

Abstract: CNKI database was chosen to analyze the published articles on farmers’ information needs study in recent 30 years based on paper number, major journals, and cited times. Issues including status and trends were analyzed. The result showed that:(1) The most popular 5 topics for farmers’ information needs study were situation investigation and analysis, characteristics of farmers’ information needs, information supply mode, farmers’ access to information means, barriers in farmers’ access to information; (2) The analysis of overall paper number in each periods showed that the researcher paid more attention to the situation investigation and analysis at present; (3) Without stable financial support, most researchers’ research direction was followed the project, lacking of the existing problems and deep discussion; (4) In the context of agricultural informationization, the research literature on farmers’ information needs increased with relatively fewer quantity and lower quality.
