Abstract: The excellent learning and research environment in university library has attracted lots of students and readers on and off campus. In this way, an outstanding problem was aroused that the limited learning space (especially the number of reading seats) could not satisfy both the internal and external readers. This paper conducted a sampling survey on the effective learning space among university libraries nationwide, and explored the scientific planning of library layout, the sound usage of limited resource and the expansion of limited learning space in university library from three levels: management pattern, regulation establishment and the concept of big data.

Key words: Occupying library’s seat
