Abstract: With the popularity of the Internet and network information technology, college students’ reading behavior has undergone profound changes, which is mainly featured by the prevalence of online reading and declining of traditional reading. The characteristics of richness, sharing and openness of online reading decrease the students’ sense of dependence on the library. On the one side, most of university libraries face the problems of declining of the number of students into the library and of loan volume as well as low utilization of literature. On the other hand, many problems are also existing among students, such as their reading time is far less than expected, reading goals are not clear and reading method is improper, etc. Therefore, university libraries in the new situation must adjust its role-orientation to construct a new image of the university information resource center and students’ culture and leisure centers and take active measures to attract readers into the library.
