Research on Discipline Gap Recognition Based on "Trend-Rate Two-dimension Method" ——Taking the Field of Information Science as an Example

Abstract: By analyzing the research topic based on the "trend-rate" two-dimensional method, research gap in the discipline field was identified. Based on the data of five core journals in the field of domestic information science, this research formed 16 research topics, and obtained the quotation of 16 themes in 2007-2016 from the citation database of CNKI. The trend is expressed in terms of the number of documents, and the quotation stood for the user need. By analyzing the user's reference data, it evaluated the trend of all the topics. And finally through two dimensions of the text trend (Trend) and rate (Rate) , it formed four regions, and analyzed the research themes of every region to determine the research gap in the field of information science and gave the research priority. The results showed that emergencies, information dissemination and information ecology had a high priority in the field of information science.
