The Exploration of Subject Service and Subject Librarians under Big Data Thought

Abstract: Under big data thought, with the increasing amount of information, university library should change from traditional literature consultation mode into subject service mode actively participating in teaching and research. Combining with the present situation of subject service in Guangdong Ocean University Library, this paper proposed the strategies to strengthen the cultivation of librarian quality based on big data thought, including introducing subject librarian, adding daily training, providing personalized service, setting additional post of retriever as subject librarian, quantifying the work of subject librarian, and explored the development trend of subject service and subject librarian.
