Research on the Influence of Patent Inventor Based on Contribution Calculation and Cooperation Network Analysis

Abstract: Inventors are the core carriers of patents' value. The study on measuring and evaluating inventor influence is one of the most hottest topics in patent analysis field, which is quite meaningful for detecting new technology development and introducing research talents. In this paper, the influence of patent inventor was evaluated both qualitatively and quantitatively by two dimensions, namely innovation ability and cooperation ability. It calculated the inventors' contribution based on their orders in the patent to evaluate the innovation ability and use the topological features of the patent cooperation network to measure the cooperation ability. Finally, the patent dataset from the recommender system was used to verify the approach. Compared with traditional methods using patent amount and cooperate frequency as evaluating indexes to rank the inventors, this method can locate the various types of key inventors and provide a positive research start for the objective evaluation of inventor influence.
