Abstract: Because of the particularity and the complexity of newspaper information, in the process of newspaper literature cataloging, it is found that there are some unresolved problems in the Chinese Bibliographical Cataloging Rules and the New Chinese Machine-readable Directory Format. In this paper, the Chinese newspaper resource cataloging rules and standardization are discussed, the significance and importance of bibliographic data standardization are described, and the reasons of the nonstandard bibliographic data are pointed out. And also, this paper illustrates and studies some concrete problems in cataloging working practice, and gives the solutions on these problems. At last, the paper puts forward some suggestions on the bibliographic data standardization.
