The Change of Library Space and Role Based on the Theory of Media Situation

Abstract: In the new media era, great changes have taken place in the mode of information transmission, needs and behaviors of library users are developing towards openness, interaction, sharing and individuation, the traditional library has faced with crisis of being marginalized. According to theory of media situation, this paper analyzed the aspects of library space reconstruction, library concept positioning transformation, the deepening of librarians' responsibility, the change of readers' roles, and put forward some suggestions for constructing the new capabilities of library to adapt to the new era development and the new needs of users.
