The Role of Japan’s University Libraries in Open Access and Open Science Advocating

Abstract: Based on the contents of recent 2016 conference held by Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition of Japan, this paper analyzed the role of Japan’s university libraries in open access and open science advocating. Japan’s university libraries entered into alliance with each other to lower the cost of subscribing to digital periodicals, and emphasized the construction of institutional repository to disseminate academic achievements, and contributed a great share in the promoting of open science. The principal goal of university libraries was to assist the scientific research in Japan.
