Abstract: Paper document acquisition is the foundation works of library, which influences the library service and health development, especially for the teaching features and results of universities in ethnic areas. In e-publishing era, with the impact of digital publishing, paper document acquisition in university libraries in ethnic areas is in a state of disorder. Taking Inner Mongolia University of Technology Library as an example, this paper explored the appropriate model and methods of paper document acquisition in university libraries in ethnic areas, and suggested that library should adapt to the social development to improve the collection quality, and better serve the teaching and scientific research by abandoning traditional model and focusing on the user demand to build new acquisition mode with scientific acquisition rules and reasonable acquisition plan as well as multi-department participation.
