Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] Reading is a social activity. Under the framework of the sociological theory, the analysis of the reading needs of rural adult residents can not only understand the differences in reading needs of different social groups, but also clarify how sociological factors affect rural residents' reading needs. [Methods/Process] This article is aimed at rural residents in three towns in Guangdong Province. Through questionnaire surveys, statistical methods were used to analyze the influence of such sociology factors as individual and family on the reading needs of rural adult residents and then this paper proposed a strategy to meet the reading needs of rural residents. [Results/Conclusions] It is believed that the service quality should be improved from four aspects: optimizing the resource structure, ensuring family reading, enhancing family reading atmosphere, and improving the construction of farm bookstores, and optimize farm bookstore services.
