Abstract: The academic library is an important component of the public cultural service system. It is veryimportant to determine the position and function of academic libraries in public cultural service system. Inthis paper, the features of the public cultural services of academic libraries are introduced firstly. Then thebasic functions of the academic libraries in public cultural services are analyzed. Finally, a principle ofpositioning is pointed out that academic library should take the local development needs as the guidance,and base on their own level of development and public cultural services, and then optimize the allocation of resources to ensure that the final realization of the function.
