Abstract: [Purposes] In order to understand the status of reference location and format in Chinese scientific journals, the expression format of the term “reference” and its standardized format were discussed. [Methods] By logging the papers published in 2015 from the high-ranked 300 Chinese scientific journals of CSCD in 2014, the expression format, position, translation or not, citation mode, identification code and authors of reference were analyzed. [Findings] Results showed that the term “Reference:” (30.0%) was most and located in the left of each row. There were 268 journals with order reference coding” (89.3%). 77.3% journals had identification code. And, there were 252 journals less than three authors by instead of “et al”, 171 journals (57.0%) had Chinese-English translation. [Conclusions] It was recommended that every sci-tech periodicals should pay great attention to the reference, and make efforts to standardize and normalize reference, and offer a strategic reference from the trend variation.
