A Comparative Study of App Digital Reading for Commercial and Public Welfare Children in China

Abstract: With the advent of the digital age, the emergence of new media technologies such as micro-blog, micro-messaging, App and so on, people's reading habits and reading methods have also undergone tremendous changes. As the country calls on all people to read, digital reading has become a new fashion of reading. Using literature research and comparative analysis, this paper investigates two kinds of children's digital reading Apps, commercial and public welfare children's digital reading Apps, and makes a comparative analysis from five aspects: development mode and version construction, digital resources construction, service mode, interface design and user motivation. It discovers the problems of the Chinese public welfare children's digital reading App. Five suggestions are put forward: firstly, regular testing, timely updating and speeding up the upgrade of versions; secondly, enriching the content of digital resources and strengthening the construction of high-quality resources; thirdly, refining user groups and providing personalized services; fourthly, optimizing interface design to enhance children's reading experience; fifthly, improving users incentive system to ensure user loyalty, in order to promote the better development of public welfare children's digital reading App.
