Features Analysis and Perspective about Highly Cited Papers in Entomology in China Based on the Bibliometric Analysis of five Chinese Entomological core Journals

Abstract: Taking 200 highly cited papers published in 5 representative Chinese entomological core journals during 2005-2014 as the research objects, this paper used the method of bibliometrics to analyzed the amount of highly cited papers, institution distribution, output of prolific authors and study subject distribution. The results showed that Acta Entomologica Sinica and Chinese Journal of Applied Entomology remained the dominant position in high quality papers, while Entomotaxonomia and Zoological Systematics remained in a relative backward position; on the whole, China’s authors in entomology field had relative low capacity of producing highly cited papers, and poor output in conducting continuous research and forming serial high quality papers.
