Study on the Online Reference Service Methods of University Library

Abstract: With the advancement of internet technology, university library’ online reference service has become diversified and integrated. The service methods mainly included frequently asked questions, real-time reference service, e-mail consulting and message form consulting, which existed problems of single service method, low utilization, vaguely defined user categories and low penetration of joint reference service. Measures like paying attention to survey users’ needs, conducting tracking service of regular users, improving users’ information literacy, strengthening publicity, carrying out joint reference and enhancing reference openness were proposed.
