Abstract: Children's reading promotion has attracted more and more attention in China, and the related research is also rising. Facing such a good opportunity, National Library of China, as the national-level library, should plan the children's reading promotion from the the national view. Through the analysis on the current situation of children's reading in China, this paper concluded the importance of children's reading promotion, and proposed that children's reading was not good enough now, and library should play more role here. Internationally, the experience of foreign national libraries in promoting children's reading provided reference, and National Library of China can fulfill its potential rather than general libraries. On the domestic front, some achievements were made in children's reading promotion in China's public libraries. However, there were some limitations in the policy guidance and resource allocation, while the promotion of children's reading in the national library was important.
