Big Data and Library Construction

Abstract: This paper states the origin of the concept of big data,and defines big data as 4 characteristics:mass data,high speed,diversified and low value intensive. Examples are used to illustrate application of big data in the various walks of life,especially the relationship between big data and library construction, and what big data existing in present library are demonstrated specifically. Finally through 4 aspects we discuss how can the library apply big data analysis to library service:1.To establish data management department; 2.To provide basis for book acquisitioning by virtue of big data analysis;3.To provide customized services for library users by virtue of big data analysis.4.To build a professional big data analysis team.
