Research on Volunteer Services of the Public Library: A Case Study of Shanghai Library

Abstract: The paper briefly introduces the development and present situation of volunteer activities in public libraries in developed countries or regions, as well as the content of library volunteer activities and their effects on libraries. By taking the case of Shanghai Library, the paper also elaborates on the importance of volunteer activities organized by the public library and explores the ways to offer better volunteer services so as to ensure its sustainable development.
