Abstract: Promoting social reading and improving the national quality, increasingly become an issue of common concern to the whole society. Public library as bearer disseminators of knowledge should provide all kinds of reading services to attract readers and enhance social reading. This paper proposes that a public library should play a role to promote social reading in following the trend, developing network reading, creating a good reading environment, and popularizing the self-service and the vulnerable group’s services in four areas.
