Abstract: New requirements have been for raised ahead of librarians working in universities under the background featured by new media ,the requirements are stated in the following context: librarians are advised to get rid of the traditional and old mind-set concept so as to set up a new and multi-faceted service one; to master basic skills in abilities in terms of network information technology and foreign language, to build a bridge between targeted readership and information sharing; as well as to make an in-depth fieldwork to analyze the actual and specific demands of readers when possible. All in all, those aforementioned new requirements are a challenge for them, however, they are an encouraging force for them to a larger extent. This will play a vitally important role in pushing forward the sustainable development of the cause of library in China.
