Practices of Farmer-to-Farmer Information and Knowledge Sharing in Several Countries and the Enlightenment: A Literature Analysis

Abstract: Farmer-to-farmer information and knowledge sharing is important to advance agricultural technology dissemination and develop modern agriculture. According to reviewing national and international literature, it is found that many countries had experiences of or policies for promoting farmer-to-farmer information and knowledge sharing. This study summarizes the farmer-to-farmer information and knowledge sharing practices in six countries including USA, Australia, Canada, Cuba, Ethiopia and China, and comparatively analyzed their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, enlightenment and suggestions are put forward for improving the policies concerning the development of farmer-to-farmer information and knowledge sharing system in China.
