Abstract: In the age of big data which has been deeply rooted in the hearts of everyone,How to improve the ability of Librarians of university libraries has become the decisive factor of the future development in ethnic minority areas. In order to do a good job of information service in minority areas of work ,librarians of university libraries must improve their self-cultivation, find their own role, cultivate the core competence in ethnic minority areas which widely spread the outstanding culture of the minority areas. This article from the role orientation of Librarians of the age of big data, taking the library of Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities as an example, discusses the core competence of the minority librarian who should possess, which provides reference for library development in ethnic minority regions.
