Advancement of Building City Civilization Through Reading Popularization——Noting the Participation of Shanghai Public Libraries in Shanghai Reading Festival

Abstract: Shanghai public libraries took part in Shanghai Reading Festival actively, and organized reading popularization activities with distinctive and occasional theme. Through these activities, the serving objects and areas has been extended. Reading popularization activities were diverse, and multiparty participated and moved forward in cooperation. The elimination of reading disability, the creation of good reading environment, the organization of diversified reading activities, the guidance of public reading, the reinforcement of cooperation, the promotion of juvenile reading, the emphasis of new mass media and the form of spreading innovation reading should be taken into consideration in order to strengthen reading popularization. Besides, it can also improve citizens’ qualities, and promote the construction of city civilization.
